Somfy Pergola Motor Fit Guide for the Pergola Tilt 24V 150mm

Short answer: The Somfy pergola motor for louvered roofs is the Pergola Tilt 24V 150mm (1230032), a wired linear actuator that pushes 2500 N through a 150 mm stroke. It has no radio of its own. Pair it with the Somfy Pergola 12V/24V 2-motor RTS Receiver, and one control box runs two actuators from a single RTS remote.

Pick the actuator by louver load and linkage travel

A louvered pergola roof rotates its blades through a push rod, and the motor that drives that rod is a linear actuator. Tubular shade motors play no part here. The Somfy Pergola Tilt 24V 150mm Linear Motor (1230032) extends and retracts between two 10 mm eyelets, and the pergola maker's linkage turns that straight-line travel into blade rotation.

Two numbers decide whether it suits a roof. The first is force. Somfy rates the 1230032 at a nominal 2500 N, about 562 lbf, which suits long spans and heavy aluminum blades. The second is stroke. This actuator travels 150 mm (5.91 in), so the frame's tilt linkage must call for 150 mm of rod movement from closed to open.

Somfy builds a longer sibling, the Pergola Tilt 24V 300mm (1240262), rated 1500 N over a 300 mm stroke. The trade is plain: the 150 mm unit gives more force over a shorter throw, and the 300 mm unit gives twice the travel at lower force. Match the stroke to the pergola maker's drawing first, then confirm the force covers the blade set.

Pergola Tilt 24V 150mm specifications from Somfy

The figures below come from Somfy's Pergola Tilt 24V spec sheet (D-0128) and the Somfy product pages for ref 1230032.

The IP 66 rating matters on an open roof. Rain and hose spray hit a pergola actuator directly, and Somfy seals the aluminum body for that exposure.

Six wires: motor power plus an encoder

Somfy's spec sheet gives the 1230032 a six-wire cable split into three pairs:

  • Motor power: blue and brown
  • Encoder power: red (+) and black (-)
  • Encoder signal: yellow and green

The encoder reports rod position back to the control box. That feedback lets the Somfy pergola control unit run two actuators on the same roof and keep them in step, a real concern on a wide frame where one blade bank sits at each end. The cable unplugs at a connector on the motor body, so a service tech can swap an actuator without cutting into the run back to the control box.

Somfy pergola control: the 2-motor RTS receiver

The actuator is a wired 24V DC motor with no radio inside. Somfy pairs it with the Pergola 12V/24V 2-motor RTS Receiver, which brings Somfy RTS radio control and the "my" favorite position to the roof. The store carries it two ways. The Somfy Pergola 12V/24V 2-motor RTS Receiver (1871434) is the control box alone. The Somfy Pergola 12V/24V 2-motor RTS Receiver & Antenna Kit (1870488) adds Somfy's remote RTS antenna, the better choice when the box mounts inside a metal beam or a sealed enclosure.

Somfy's Pergola Tilt RTS Control Box quick guide (P-0036, October 2023) lays out the settings an installer works through:

  1. Cut power before wiring or changing any wiring.
  2. Bring a 24 Vdc SELV supply to terminals A (-) and B (+).
  3. Wire drive output 1 with blue to C (-) and brown to D (+). Wire drive output 2 with blue to E (-) and brown to F (+).
  4. Set Switch 1 ON for a drive with a coder (encoder) sensor. With Switch 1 ON, Switch 2 turns synchronization of S1 and S2 on or off.
  5. Set Switch 3 for the maximum current per output: 5.5 A with the switch ON, 3 A with it OFF.
  6. Press MY and DOWN together briefly to start the self-learning run. Let the drive finish its search for the end limits without interrupting it.

The quick guide shows the encoder conductors on its wiring diagram. Follow that diagram and the motor's spec sheet in the Somfy spec library for those terminals.

Rain and wind sensors for a louvered roof

A louvered roof earns its keep in bad weather, and the pergola receiver accepts sensors so the blades react without anyone reaching for a remote. Somfy lists three sensor options for the 1230032 system.

For rain, the wired route is the Ondeis Rain Sensor 24V DC (9016344). The control box takes a dry-contact rain input on terminal O with P as common, and it powers the sensor from Q (-) and R (+) at 24 Vdc, 300 mA. The radio route is the Somfy Ondeis WireFree RTS Rain & Sun Sensor (9019617), which pairs by radio and needs no sensor wire run to the box.

For wind, Somfy names the Somfy Eolis RTS 60 MPH Wind Sensor 24V DC Kit (1870709). Switch 5 on the control box sets the wind response: ON opens the pergola 50%, OFF opens it 100%. Opening the blades lets gusts pass through the roof instead of loading the frame.

Lighting rides on the same radio. Somfy lists the LED RTS 24V DC Receiver (1870872) as the lighting partner for pergola systems, so one RTS remote can tilt the roof and dim the lights. Our guide to Somfy RTS receivers compares the pergola receiver with Somfy's LED and universal receivers, and the Somfy sensor guide covers how each sensor behaves.

Install notes installers ask about

Duty cycle comes first. Somfy publishes a 6 minute thermal run time. At 3 mm/s under full load, a full 150 mm stroke takes under a minute, so normal open and close cycles sit well inside that window. Pause between repeated test runs during setup to stay clear of the thermal limit.

Supply sizing comes second. Each actuator draws a rated 1.9 A at 24V DC. Set the control box output current with Switch 3 and size the 24 Vdc supply for both motors on the roof.

Mounting comes third. The 10 mm eyelets fix to the pergola maker's brackets at each end, and the actuator measures 290 mm eyelet to eyelet when retracted. Check that dimension against the frame drawing before ordering, because it decides whether the actuator fits the space the linkage leaves. The Somfy awning and exterior motors collection holds the pergola actuator alongside Somfy's other outdoor motors.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Somfy Pergola Tilt 1230032 work with an RTS remote on its own?

No. The 1230032 is a wired 24V DC actuator with no radio inside. Somfy pairs it with the Pergola 12V/24V 2-motor RTS Receiver (1871434), or the kit version with a remote antenna (1870488). Once the receiver is in place, RTS remotes and the "my" favorite position control the roof, and RTS sensors such as the Ondeis WireFree pair to the receiver.

Can one receiver run two pergola motors in sync?

Yes. Somfy's pergola control box has two drive outputs, S1 and S2. Set Switch 1 ON to tell the box the drives carry a coder sensor, then use Switch 2 to turn synchronization of S1 and S2 on. The encoder wires on the 1230032 (red, black, yellow and green) supply the position feedback that synchronization relies on.

Is the 150mm or the 300mm Pergola Tilt the right motor?

The pergola maker's linkage decides it. The 150mm model (1230032) gives 2500 N over 150 mm of stroke at 3 mm/s under full load. The 300mm model (1240262) gives 1500 N over 300 mm at 6 mm/s. Measure the rod travel the louvers need from closed to open, then confirm the force covers the blade weight.

Can the Pergola Tilt 24V motor stay outside year round?

Somfy rates the 1230032 at IP 66 with an aluminum body, built for an exposed pergola roof. It runs on a 24V DC Class III supply, carries CE approval and a 5 year Somfy warranty. The 1.5 m cable unplugs at the motor, so a replacement actuator connects without rewiring the run.
