Getting crowns, drives and brackets right
What each part does
The crown locates the motor inside the tube and stops it spinning. The drive engages the tube so the tube turns with the motor. The bracket holds the motor head at the wall or ceiling. Miss any one of the three and the shade does not run.
Crowns and drives are sold as matched sets for a given tube profile. Buying them separately from different platforms is how kits end up incomplete.
Selection is by motor family and by tube
A set is chosen by the motor platform (LT50, LT60, LS40, Sonesse 30/40/50, ST30) and then by the exact tube: profile, outside diameter and wall thickness. A round tube and an octagonal tube of the same nominal size take different crowns.
LT50 needs a minimum internal diameter of 1.85 in and LT60 needs 2.37 in. Parts do not cross between the two platforms unless the listing names both.
Head type decides the bracket
Somfy uses star, round and square heads, and the head is a per-part specification. Two motors of the same family and the same torque can differ, and a CMO motor takes a different head from its RTS sibling. A star bracket will not hold a square head. Read the head type off the motor listing rather than assuming from the family.
Adaptor plates for third-party brackets
Motor adaptor plates mate Somfy motors to RollEase, SkyLine, ZMC, Acmeda and Louvolite bracket systems, which is what most retrofit jobs actually need. Each plate names the motor it fits and the bracket family it mates to. Check both ends before ordering, and note that a 40mm crown will not serve a 28 or 30mm motor even where a supplier lists them together.

Common questions
What is the difference between a crown and a drive?
The crown centres the motor's idle end inside the tube and carries no load. The drive locks onto the motor's output and transmits the torque that turns the shade. They are sold as a matched pair for one specific tube and are not interchangeable across sizes.
How do I choose the right crown and drive set?
By the motor platform first, then the exact tube. You need the tube's profile, round or keyed, its outside diameter and its wall thickness, because wall thickness changes the bore the crown has to fit. Nominal size alone is not enough.
Will an LT50 crown fit an LT60 motor?
No. The platforms have different output profiles and different tube minimums, 1.85 in for LT50 against 2.37 in for LT60. A few drives are built for both and carry LT50/60 in the part name. If the name does not say so, treat it as platform-specific.
How do I pick a bracket?
By head type, not by torque. Somfy motors carry star, round or square heads, and each takes a different bracket. The Sonesse ULTRA 50 DC motors use a square head, so a star bracket will not hold one. Read the head from the motor's listing.
Can I fit a Somfy motor into a Rollease or Acmeda headrail?
Usually yes, with an adaptor plate. Plates are stocked for Rollease SkyLine and R-series, ZMC, Acmeda and Louvolite brackets. Check the motor's minimum tube diameter separately, because a plate changes the bracket fit and not the tube requirement.
