One hub, sixty shades. The Somfy TaHoma Switch Zigbee Interface (1871037) is the piece that turns a bank of Somfy motors into a system with schedules, scenes, and voice. Every Zigbee motor Somfy builds needs a coordinator to join a network, and this is it.
Capacity is the number to check before you quote. One TaHoma switch carries up to 60 Zigbee products or 40 RTS channels. Count the openings first.
Zigbee capacity and RTS capacity are separate numbers
Somfy publishes two limits because the hub speaks two radios. On the Zigbee side it binds up to 60 individual products, each addressed on its own. On the RTS side it drives 40 channels, and a channel can hold more than one motor, so a room of six shades on one channel counts as one.
That asymmetry decides the spec on a mixed retrofit. A house with 30 existing RTS shades and 20 new Zigbee motors fits inside one hub with room left. A commercial floor with 80 Zigbee motors needs two.
Somfy allows up to 10 TaHoma switches joined for multi-zone RTS control, which is how a large residence or a small hotel scales past a single hub without a separate app for each wing.

The integrations that decide a project
Voice runs through Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Home. Apple Home coverage applies to Zigbee products, so a house running older RTS motors reaches Siri only after those shades move to Zigbee or through a different route in the control system.
On the integration side the list is long enough to cover most low voltage contractors already on site. Control4, Crestron, Savant, Elan, RTI, URC, and Brilliant all talk to the hub. Somfy adds Philips Hue, Sonos, SmartThings, Alarm.com, and Josh.ai on top, which puts shades into scenes alongside lighting and audio rather than sitting in their own app.
An integrator quoting a job should confirm the driver version against the control platform before the order, since the hub does the translating and the driver is what exposes position feedback to the dealer's programming.
Pairing motors without a ladder
Somfy puts a QR code on each Zigbee motor and pairs it over Bluetooth from the app. An installer scans, names the shade, and moves to the next opening. On a twenty shade job that removes the old routine of cycling a handheld through channels and guessing which shade answered.
RTS motors join a different way, by putting the existing transmitter into programming mode and copying the pairing across. The shades keep their handheld afterward, so a client who liked the wall switch keeps using it and gains the app on top.
Scenes and sun and time schedules live on the hub rather than in the cloud, so a shade set to close at sunset still closes when the internet drops.
Remotes that pair alongside the app

Most clients want a physical control in the room even after the app is working. The Somfy Ysia 1 Channel Zigbee Remote (1871153) suits a single opening, and the Somfy Ysia 5 Channel Zigbee Remote (1871154) covers a room with a group channel across the bank.
Ysia handhelds sit on the same Zigbee mesh as the motors, so they report back through the hub rather than shouting one way at a receiver. A remote that has been moved to another room still works, and the hub knows the shade moved.
Bringing Glydea drapery onto the same hub
Glydea ULTRA drapery motors ship on several control platforms, and a wired or DCT track does not speak Zigbee out of the box. The Somfy Zigbee 3.0 Module for Glydea Ultra Motors (9000043) adds that radio to the track.
The value shows up in a room with both shades and draperies. Without the module a client runs the shades from the TaHoma app and the drapery from something else. With it, one scene closes the roller and traverses the panel together.
Wired network, and when to pick the other version
The standard TaHoma switch joins the house network over Wi-Fi. On a site with a weak signal at the equipment rack, or a network policy that keeps controllers on a wired VLAN, Somfy builds the Somfy TaHoma Switch with Ethernet Adaptor (1871038).
Order that version on commercial work by default. A hub that drops off Wi-Fi during a firmware push turns into a service call, and the wired adaptor removes that failure mode for the price of a patch cable.
Ordering
Count the Zigbee motors and the RTS channels, then order one TaHoma switch (1871037) per 60 Zigbee products or 40 RTS channels. Add a Ysia remote for each room the client will control by hand, and the Glydea Zigbee module for any drapery track joining the same scenes. Somfy covers the hub for 5 years.
Questions we get on this hub
How many shades will one TaHoma switch control?
Up to 60 Somfy Zigbee products, or 40 RTS channels. Those are separate limits, and a single RTS channel can carry several motors that move together, so 40 channels often covers more than 40 shades. Count Zigbee motors individually and RTS by channel when you size the job.
Does the TaHoma switch work with Control4 and Crestron?
Yes. Somfy supports Control4, Crestron, Savant, Elan, RTI, URC, and Brilliant, plus Philips Hue, Sonos, SmartThings, Alarm.com, and Josh.ai. The hub does the translating between the control platform and the shade radios. Confirm the driver version with the dealer before ordering, since the driver exposes position feedback.
Can one TaHoma switch run both Zigbee and RTS motors?
Yes. The hub carries both radios, so a retrofit that adds Zigbee motors to a house full of existing RTS shades runs from one app. RTS shades keep their existing handheld or wall switch, and the app becomes an addition rather than a replacement.
Do schedules keep running if the internet goes down?
Scenes and sun and time schedules live on the hub rather than in the cloud, so a shade set to close at sunset still closes during an outage. Remote access from outside the house needs the connection, and local control from the app on the house network keeps working.
