Pick the Situo 1 for one shade or one group
A single channel remote fits a room with one motorized window, or a run of shades you want to move as one. A bedroom blackout shade counts as a one channel job. A bank of three living room shades that open together counts as one too. Pair the motors you want to the Situo 1 and one press moves them.
Somfy builds group control into pairing. Pair three RTS motors to the same remote and the up button raises the three together. You need no hub and no extra wiring to make the group.
The Situo 1 also works as a second control. Somfy RTS motors accept more than one transmitter, so a homeowner can keep a Somfy RTS remote on the nightstand and a wall switch by the door for the same shade.
RTS motors and shades the Situo 1 runs
Somfy lists seven applications for ref 1870571: awnings, exterior solar screens, interior blinds, draperies, interior shades, pergolas and rolling shutters. Somfy describes the remote as compatible with RTS-powered systems, controls and accessories. The motor, or a receiver wired to it, has to carry Somfy RTS.
A few RTS motors show the spread. The Somfy Sonesse 30 RTS 24V DC motor (1241142) drives interior roller shades on low-voltage power. The Somfy Sonesse ULTRA 30 WireFree RTS Li-ion motor (1003310) runs a cordless shade from its own battery. Out on the house, the Somfy Altus RTS 525A2 120V motor (1043423) lifts awnings and rolling shutters. The Situo 1 pairs with each one the same way.
Leave the Situo 1 off the order for Zigbee motors, wired 4-wire motors with no receiver, and RS485 SDN motors. Those listen on other protocols. The RTS radio is omni-directional, so the remote needs no line of sight to the motor head.

Read the two range rows together. The open-field figure describes clear air between remote and motor. Inside a home, Somfy's spec sheet sets the working expectation at 20 ft, with 65 ft possible in good conditions. Masonry and foil-backed insulation pull the working range toward the lower figure. Plan for the remote to live in the same room as the shade it runs.
IP 20 means indoor use. Somfy's instructions say indoor use only and warn against moisture, so a covered patio awning is a job for the Telis 1 Patio below.
Pairing the Situo 1 to a motor that already has a control
You need a control that already runs the motor, such as the original remote or a wall switch. Somfy's Situo 1 and 5 RTS consumer instructions (C-0050) and the RTS Pocket Programming Guide give this sequence for adding a remote:
- On the control already paired to the shade, press and hold the PROG button until the shade moves up and down.
- On the new Situo 1, give the PROG button on the back a brief press. The shade moves up and down again to confirm the pairing.
The PROG button sits recessed in the back of the remote, and Somfy notes that the step may need a paperclip. Repeat the pair of steps once per motor to build a group on the single channel. Somfy uses the same sequence to delete a remote from a motor.
A brand-new motor with no programmed control, or a motor that lost its limits, goes through first-time setup before any of this. The my position, battery and wall holder
The my button does two jobs. A brief press stops a moving shade, and a held press stores one favorite position per motor. Somfy's steps from the Situo instructions:
- Move the shade to the height you want and press my to stop it there.
- Press and hold my for about 5 seconds until the shade jogs.
To delete the setting, press my to send the shade to the saved position, then press and hold my for about 5 seconds.
Power comes from one CR2032 coin cell. Somfy's battery steps take a Phillips screwdriver: remove the rear panel, fit the new CR2032 with the correct orientation and replace the panel. The cell ships installed.
