Short answer: The Somfy DecoFlex WireFree RTS 1 Channel wall switch (1810897) is a battery-powered RTS wall switch that runs one Somfy RTS shade, or one programmed group of shades, from the wall. It transmits on 433.420 MHz, needs no wiring, pairs to the motor the same way an RTS remote does, and suits awnings, interior shades, pergolas and rolling shutters.
Pick the channel count before the finish
One channel means one command target. That target can be a single shade, or a group of shades that all answer the same button. The Somfy DecoFlex WireFree RTS 1 Channel Wall Switch, White (1810897) fits the bedroom door that controls one blackout shade, or the office wall that lowers a bank of solar shades together.
Two zones on one wall call for a second channel. The DecoFlex WireFree RTS 2 Channel Wall Switch (1811068) handles a sheer and a blackout on the same window, or the east and west sides of a room. Count the zones the person at that doorway needs, then order the matching switch.
Finish comes second. The same one-channel switch ships in ivory (1810898) and black (1810899), so it can match the lighting controls already on the wall.
Motors and receivers the switch drives
Somfy lists five application groups for ref 1810897: awnings, exterior solar screens, interior window coverings (blinds, draperies and shades), pergolas and rolling shutters. The switch speaks RTS only, so the motor or receiver on the other end has to be RTS as well.
Motors with a built-in RTS receiver pair to it directly. Two common examples are the Somfy Sonesse 30 RTS 24V DC Motor (1241142) for small roller shades and the Somfy Sonesse ULTRA 30 WireFree 12V Li-ion RTS Motor (1003310) for battery roller shades with no power at the window. A battery switch on a battery motor gives a room full wall control with no electrician on the job.
A wired 120V AC motor has no receiver of its own. Add the Somfy Universal RTS Receiver (1810627) inline between the power and the motor, and the DecoFlex then pairs to the receiver. Zigbee motors need a DecoFlex Zigbee switch instead, and SDN motors take a hardwired DecoFlex keypad. Our DecoFlex wall switch comparison sets the three families side by side.

Two rows shape the install. IP 20 places the switch indoors, so mount it inside the patio door rather than on the pergola post. The 41 F floor rules out an unheated garage or a winter porch. Inside a conditioned room, both limits sit well clear of normal use.
Pairing the switch to a motor
The DecoFlex joins a motor as an added RTS transmitter. Somfy's RTS Pocket Programming Guide gives the procedure for standard RTS motors, and it needs a remote that already controls the shade:
- Pick up the remote already programmed to the motor.
- Press and hold the programming button on that remote until the shade jogs.
- Briefly press the programming button on the DecoFlex switch. The shade jogs again to confirm.
- Test UP, DOWN and STOP from the wall.
Somfy places a recessed programming button on DecoFlex WireFree switches. Removing the switch from a motor uses the same sequence: hold the programming button on a working remote, then press the button on the switch you want to drop.
A group takes one more pass. Repeat the four steps on every motor in the group, each time with that motor's own remote, and the single channel then moves all of them together. Procedures vary by motor generation, and the Maestria and Li-ion motors carry their own pages in the guide, so check the install guide for your motor in our Somfy spec and manual library before you start. The full add, delete and reset routine lives in our RTS remote pairing guide.
Placement, mounting and extra controls
Somfy builds the 1810897 to sit next to an existing light switch, so the shade moves as people enter or leave the room. It runs on a battery and carries no wires, which means no back box and no patching if the switch moves later.
Mount it at the door people use, at the same height as the light switch. In a hotel room or a conference room, that spot is where staff and guests expect to find controls. Somfy also offers custom engraving on DecoFlex buttons through its keypad engraving order form, a useful touch in commercial rooms where a label beats a guess.
Test the switch at the chosen spot before you fix it to the wall. Press UP and DOWN from that position and watch the shade respond, then mount it.
An RTS motor accepts more than one transmitter. The Sonesse 40 RTS and Altus RTS spec pages list 12 channels of memory, so a DecoFlex at the door and a handheld at the bed can both drive the same shade. Each one takes a single slot.
A second DecoFlex at a far door follows the same pairing steps as the first. A room with two entrances can carry one switch at each, both pointed at the same shade or group.
Ordering checklist
Confirm four facts before you order: the motor is RTS or has an RTS receiver, one zone covers the doorway, the switch mounts indoors, and the finish matches the light switch beside it. With those settled, the DecoFlex WireFree RTS 1 Channel (1810897) is the part to order. Browse the full family, from one to five channels, in our Somfy DecoFlex wall switches collection.
FAQ
Does the DecoFlex 1 Channel need any wiring?
No. Somfy builds the DecoFlex WireFree RTS 1 Channel (1810897) as a battery-powered, fully wireless wall switch. It needs no back box, no conduit, no electrician and no wall patching. It talks to the motor over RTS radio at 433.420 MHz, so the only setup step is pairing it to the motor with a remote that already controls the shade.
Can one channel control several shades at once?
Yes. Pair the switch to each motor in the group, one motor at a time, using that motor's own programmed remote. Once every motor has accepted the switch, the single channel moves the whole group with UP, DOWN and STOP. For two groups controlled separately from the same spot, the 2 Channel DecoFlex (1811068) is the better fit.
Will it work with a Zigbee or wired Somfy motor?
The 1810897 speaks RTS only. Zigbee motors need a DecoFlex Zigbee switch, and SDN motors take a hardwired DecoFlex keypad. A wired 120V AC motor works once a Somfy Universal RTS Receiver (1810627) sits inline, because the switch then pairs to the receiver and the receiver switches the motor.
Can I mount the switch outdoors or in a garage?
Somfy rates the DecoFlex 1 Channel at IP 20 with a working range of 41 to 104 F, so it belongs indoors in a conditioned room. For an awning or pergola, mount it on the inside wall next to the patio door. That keeps the switch dry and within its temperature range while still giving one-touch control of the outdoor product.
