Short answer: Find the seven-digit Somfy reference on the motor label first, then match the failed part to that motor. Crown and drive sets and adaptor plates fit by motor platform and tube. Remotes fit by control family, so RTS remotes pair with RTS motors. Chargers, battery packs and power supplies fit by power type. Somfy publishes a compatible-products list for each part.
Somfy builds its motorized shades as a system of separate parts, and that design pays off the day one part fails. A cracked drive wheel, a bent bracket, a lost remote or a dead charger does not mean a new motor. It means one part number, chosen against the motor you already own. This guide walks through the parts shoppers replace most and the single fact that decides fit for each one.
Start with the motor reference, not the part
The motor decides what fits around it. Current Somfy US motors carry a seven-digit reference on the label, such as 1241142 for the Sonesse 30 RTS 24V DC or 1003310 for the Sonesse ULTRA 30 WireFree RTS (Li-ion). Somfy prints that reference beside the model code, the torque and speed, the control family and the voltage.
Ignore the five-digit 74300 on the same label. It is the postal code of Cluses, France, where Somfy keeps its registered office, and it appears on a wide range of Somfy products. Our guide to reading a Somfy motor label covers each mark and what to measure if the label has faded.
With the reference in hand, look the motor up in the Somfy spec sheet and install guide library. Somfy's product records list the accessories that belong to each motor. Our parts listings carry the same reference numbers, so a search on the seven digits brings up a single product.
The Somfy parts shoppers replace most
Six part families cover most replacement jobs. The table pairs each one with the fact that decides fit.
| Part family | Typical reason to replace | Fit decided by |
|---|---|---|
| Crown and drive set | Cracked drive, new tube, motor swap into another brand's tube | Motor platform, then exact tube profile and inside diameter |
| Motor adaptor plate | Somfy motor going into another brand's bracket | Motor head and the bracket series it mates to |
| Bracket | Bent bracket, new mounting position | Motor head type: star, round, square or CMO |
| Remote or wall control | Lost, broken or extra controls | Control family: RTS, Zigbee or wired |
| Charger or battery | Lost charger, worn battery, move away from AA cells | Charging family: V2 head, USB-C, external battery |
| Power supply | Failed transformer on a 24V DC motor | Motor voltage and the number of motors on the supply |
Two families sit outside this list because they rarely fail on their own: the motor's internal receiver and its limit settings. A motor that stops responding needs diagnosis before parts. Our Somfy troubleshooting checklist rules out a flat battery or a lost pairing first.
Crown and drive sets and adaptor plates fit by platform and tube
The crown centers the motor inside the tube. The drive locks onto the motor output and turns the tube. Somfy sells them as a matched set for one platform and one tube, and an LT50 set will not fit an LT60 motor.
Take the Somfy RollEase 1.5" Crown & Drive (9020674). Somfy lists it for 18 motors on the 28 and 30 mm platforms, from the Sonesse 30 RTS 24V DC (1241142) and Sonesse 30 Zigbee 24V DC (1241970) to the Sonesse ULTRA 30 WireFree RTS (Li-ion) (1003310) and the Roll Up 28 WireFree motors. It fits a RollEase 1.5 in tube. A 2 in RollEase tube on the same motor takes a different set.
The bracket end follows the same logic. The Somfy Motor Adaptor Plate for RollEase SkyLine & ZMC XL Series Brackets (9016378) mates a Somfy motor head to those bracket series. Somfy lists 26 compatible motors, covering Sonesse 28, Sonesse 30, Sonesse 40 WireFree and Zigbee, and Roll Up motors. Keep the existing brackets, fit the plate, and the headrail stays in place.
Order these parts from the tube, not from the shade's outside size. Measure the inside diameter and photograph the inside profile. Our guide to Somfy crowns, drives and brackets covers tube profiles, wall thickness, adaptor plates and the three head types in detail.
Replacement remotes fit by control family
A Somfy RTS remote talks to an RTS motor on 433.42 MHz. It will not pair with a Zigbee motor or a plain wired motor, so read the control family on the motor label before you order a remote.
For a lost single-shade remote, the Somfy Situo 1 RTS Pure II remote (1870571) runs one motor or one group. For a room with several shades, the Somfy Situo 5 RTS Pure II remote (1870575) gives five channels. Somfy rates both for about 65 ft of range, and the Situo 5 runs on a single CR2032 coin cell.
A new remote pairs through the PROG button on a remote that already controls the motor. If no working remote remains, the motor's install guide gives Somfy's route back in. Somfy's steps differ by motor generation. Follow our walkthrough on how to pair, add and delete a Somfy RTS remote, and check the motor's install guide in the spec library for the exact sequence.
Chargers, battery packs and power supplies fit by power type
Somfy runs several power families, and a part from one family will not serve a motor from another. Read the words in brackets on the motor name: Li-ion, External Battery, USB-C or 24V DC.
- Embedded Li-ion motors with a V2 head recharge from the Somfy Lithium-ion Charger (V2 Head) (9025166). It plugs into a 100 to 240 V outlet, and Somfy backs it with a 5 year warranty. The shade stays on its brackets while it charges.
- External Battery motors, such as the Cord Lift CL32, Tilt 50, Roll Up 28 V2 and Sonesse 28 External Battery versions, run from a pack on a lead. The Somfy Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery Pack (9021217) holds 2600 mAh at 12 V and recharges with the 9025166 charger in up to 6 hours.
- 24V DC motors such as the Sonesse 30 RTS 24V DC need a Somfy supply. The Somfy 24V DC 1.67A Wall Mount Power Supply (1822209) powers one motor from a standard outlet. A room of DC motors moves to a power distribution enclosure instead.
USB-C WireFree Zigbee motors and the Irismo 45 drapery motor each take their own charger. Our guide to Somfy WireFree batteries, chargers and cables maps each charger and battery to the motors Somfy lists for it.
A short procedure for any Somfy replacement part
Work through these steps before you check out. The checks take a few minutes.
- Photograph the motor label and write down the seven-digit reference, the model code and the control family.
- Note the power type from the motor name: 120V AC, 24V DC, Li-ion, External Battery or USB-C.
- For tube parts, measure the tube inside diameter and photograph the inside profile and the motor head.
- Open the part's listing and confirm your motor reference appears in Somfy's compatible-products list.
- For a remote, confirm the motor is RTS before you order an RTS remote, and plan the pairing route.
- Check the motor's install guide in the spec library for any step that differs by generation.

Parts or a new motor?
A motor that hums without turning, or turns with a stripped drive, points to the drive set. A motor that answers a second remote but not the first points to the remote. Replace the motor itself when the troubleshooting checklist rules out power and pairing and the drive set turns clean, or when the shade has outgrown the motor's torque.
A like-for-like swap keeps the job small. A Somfy motor with the same reference fits the same tube, crown, drive and bracket. If the original motor came from another brand, our guide to fitting a Somfy motor to an existing shade covers tube diameter, head type, torque and adaptor plates.

Somfy replacement parts FAQ
Where do I find the part number on a Somfy motor?
Look on the label printed on the motor body. Current Somfy US motors carry a seven-digit reference, such as 1241142, beside the model code, torque and speed, the control family and the voltage. The motor sits inside the roller tube, so you often read the label after removing the shade. Photograph it in raking light, since sun and age fade the print.
Can I replace only the crown and drive on my Somfy motor?
Yes. Crowns and drives are separate parts sold as a matched set for one motor platform and one tube. Match the set to the motor platform first, then to the exact tube profile and inside diameter. The RollEase 1.5" Crown & Drive (9020674), for example, fits 18 Somfy motors on the 28 and 30 mm platforms in a RollEase 1.5 in tube.
Will any Somfy remote work with my shade motor?
No. Somfy remotes match a control family. RTS remotes such as the Situo 1 (1870571) and Situo 5 (1870575) pair with RTS motors only. Zigbee motors need Zigbee controls, and plain wired motors take a wall switch. Read the control family on the motor label, then pair the new remote using the steps in the motor's install guide.
Which Somfy charger replaces a lost one?
Match the charger to the motor's power family. Embedded Li-ion motors with a V2 head, plus the Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery Pack (9021217), take the Lithium-ion Charger (V2 Head) 9025166. USB-C WireFree Zigbee motors take the USB-C Li-ion Fast Charger 9028923, and the Irismo 45 WireFree RTS takes its own dedicated charger.
