Short answer: The Somfy dry contact switch is the Dry Contact Open, Close, Stop Wall Switch (1800219), a white Decora-style wall switch for Somfy DCT motors such as the Sonesse 30 DCT and the Glydea ULTRA DCT. It sends wired open, close and stop commands with no radio to pair. On a Sonesse 30 DCT, Somfy allows 23 ft of AWG24 wire between switch and motor.

A DCT motor carries no receiver. It waits for a contact closure on a control wire, and the Somfy Dry Contact Open, Close, Stop Wall Switch (1800219) is the wall station Somfy builds to make that closure. Open, Close and Stop each get a button, and one cable runs back to the motor. The buying decision comes down to two checks: the motor has to be a Somfy DCT model, and the wire run has to fit inside Somfy's distance limit for that motor.
Motors the 1800219 controls
Somfy describes the 1800219 as a Decora-style wall switch compatible with its DCT motor range, and it publishes wiring details for two families:
- The Somfy Sonesse 30 DCT 24V DC (1241146), a 2 Nm roller shade motor for tubes from a 1.13 in inside diameter. Somfy's Low Voltage Databook names the 1800219 as the Sonesse 30 DCT wall switch.
- The Somfy Glydea ULTRA 60 DCT Drapery Motor (1246117) and its smaller sibling, the Glydea ULTRA 35 DCT (1246115). Somfy's drapery databook lists the 1800219 under dry contact switches for these motors.
The switch belongs on a DCT motor. RTS and Zigbee motors take radio commands, and an RS485 motor runs on a data bus, so a dry contact station cannot drive them. A 120V AC four-wire motor runs on line voltage through its own switch family. Read the motor label before ordering. Look for DCT in the model name.

Figures come from Somfy's product records for reference 1800219 on somfysystems.com and somfypro.com, plus the Somfy Low Voltage Databook (2026 edition). The switch carries no mains voltage. It closes the motor's own low-voltage control circuit, which Somfy rates at 3.3V DC on the Glydea ULTRA 35 DCT.
Wiring the switch to a Sonesse 30 DCT
The Sonesse 30 DCT leaves the factory with two non-removable 6 ft cables at AWG24: a 2-wire cable for 24V DC power and a 4-wire cable for control. Somfy codes the control conductors by color:
- White/blue: up
- Blue: stop
- White/orange: down
- Orange: ground
The switch lands on those four conductors. Keep the run from switch to motor at 23 ft or less on AWG24, the limit Somfy prints for this motor. Power arrives on the other cable. For a single shade, Somfy's application example draws a Somfy 24V DC 1.67 A Wall Mount Power Supply (1822209) on a standard 120V outlet, with the wall switch on the control side.
The same diagram shows a third-party controller, such as a Crestron or Universal Remote Control system, wired in parallel with the wall switch. A homeowner keeps a button by the window while the integrator's relay drives the same motor from a scene. Somfy also publishes a wire detail sheet, DCT-WIRING-03, for a Sonesse 30 DCT with this switch and a third-party relay. Download it from the 1800219 product page on somfysystems.com before you pull wire.

Wiring the switch to a Glydea ULTRA DCT
Glydea ULTRA DCT motors take their control input through an RJ12 connector. Somfy's drapery databook gives the pinout: pin 1 open, pin 3 ground common, pin 5 stop, pin 6 close, with pins 2 and 4 unused. A dry contact device needs two normally open contacts for open and close. With a two-contact device, closing both at once sends stop. A three-button station like the 1800219 adds a dedicated stop.
Somfy lists the run limits for DCT drapery motors by cable type. Cat5 or equal reaches 328 ft with up to 10 motors. A 0.75 mm2 conductor reaches 656 ft with up to 20 motors. The databook reserves group control for a double pole, double throw switch, with a maximum of 2 motors. For one switch per drapery, wire the 1800219 to each motor on its own. Somfy's wire detail sheet DCT-WIRING-01 covers the switch-to-Glydea connection.
Setting limits on a DCT motor
The wall switch runs the shade between stored limits. It does not set them. Somfy requires the Somfy Sonesse 30 ST30 Limit Setting Tool (9014599) to set limits on the Sonesse 30 DCT, sold separately, and its drapery databook names the same tool for Glydea ULTRA wired motors. Set the limits first, then hand the shade to the wall switch.
The Sonesse 30 DCT holds 100 turns of limit capacity, and Somfy caps continuous rotation without a stop at 6 minutes. A shop that installs DCT motors keeps one tool in the van. The procedure for each motor sits in its install guide in our Somfy spec library, and the motor itself gets a full fit and wiring write-up in our Sonesse 30 DCT tube fit and wiring guide.
Dry contact, RTS or Zigbee control
Dry contact suits a project where the walls are open and the control wire can run with the power. Conference rooms and new construction with a central automation panel fit that profile. The installer skips the pairing step, and the wall station needs no batteries.
A retrofit with closed walls points the other way. The RTS and Zigbee versions of the Sonesse 30 take battery-powered wall switches that mount anywhere with no cable back to the motor. Our guide to Somfy hardwired motors and low voltage wiring lays the wired options side by side. The full range of wired and wireless stations sits in our collection of Somfy wall switches.
For a DCT motor already on the job, order one Somfy Dry Contact Open, Close, Stop Wall Switch (1800219) per control point, plus the ST30 limit tool if your shop does not own one. Somfy backs the switch for 5 years.
FAQ
What motors work with the Somfy dry contact switch 1800219?
Somfy rates the 1800219 for its DCT motor range. Somfy's databooks list it for the Sonesse 30 DCT 24V DC roller shade motor (1241146) and for the Glydea ULTRA DCT drapery motors, 35 (1246115) and 60 (1246117). It does not control RTS, Zigbee or RS485 motors, which take commands by radio or data bus in place of contact closures.
How far can the switch sit from a Sonesse 30 DCT motor?
Somfy's Low Voltage Databook sets a 23 ft maximum between the Sonesse 30 DCT motor and its wall switch on AWG24 wire. The motor ships with a 6 ft non-removable 4-wire control cable, color coded white/blue up, blue stop, white/orange down and orange ground. Plan the switch location inside that distance before the shade goes up.
Does the 1800219 set the motor limits?
No. The switch sends open, close and stop commands to limits already stored in the motor. Somfy requires the Sonesse 30 ST30 Limit Setting Tool (9014599) to set limits on the Sonesse 30 DCT, and names the same tool for Glydea ULTRA wired motors. Set both end points with the tool, then wire the wall switch for daily use.
Can the switch share a motor with a home automation system?
Yes. Somfy's dry contact application example shows the Sonesse 30 DCT wall switch wired in parallel with a third-party controller such as Crestron or Universal Remote Control. Somfy also publishes wire detail sheet DCT-WIRING-03 for a Sonesse 30 DCT with this switch and a third-party relay. Follow that sheet for the terminal connections on your job.
