What does the Somfy Zigbee Smart Plug do?
It does two jobs. It repeats the Zigbee signal to extend range for Somfy Zigbee window coverings, and it switches a lamp or other small plug-in device on and off from the TaHoma app. Part 1871217 draws 0.5 W in operation.
Does it need a hub?
Yes. Somfy requires the TaHoma Switch (1871037) for this plug. Once the plug joins the TaHoma system, the app controls it along with your Somfy Zigbee shades, and the plug relays commands to motors farther from the hub.
How far does it reach?
Somfy rates the plug at 328.1 ft of range in open field, on Zigbee 3.0 at 2.450 GHz. Walls and floors shorten that indoors, so place it between the TaHoma Switch and the shades at the edge of the network.
Can I use a voice assistant with it?
Yes, through the TaHoma Switch. Somfy lists Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Apple HomeKit as compatible, so a voice command can switch the plugged-in lamp or device along with your Somfy shades.
What outlet and location does it need?
It plugs into a standard 120V/60Hz outlet and is rated for indoor use, with an IP 20 rating. It comes in white, and Somfy backs it with a 5 year warranty.
Which Somfy products work with it?
It works with Somfy Zigbee 3.0 products on a TaHoma system, such as the Sonesse 40 406A2 Zigbee 3.0 motor (1245921) and the Glydea Ultra 35 Zigbee Drapery Motor (1241840). DecoFlex WireFree Zigbee keypads can switch it too.
