Common questions
What is the Somfy Universal Key Switch (2004964)?
It is a keyed wall control for wired motor systems, listed by Somfy as the Universal Key Box. The motor runs when the key is inserted and turned, which adds physical access control to rolling shutters and other secured closures.
Where is it used?
Somfy lists it for rolling shutter applications. It suits security shutters and exterior closures where operation should stay limited to people who hold a key, and it gives the installer a fixed control point next to the opening.
Can it be mounted outdoors?
Yes. Somfy rates the Universal Key Switch at IP 54, which covers exterior mounting near a rolling shutter or security closure. The housing comes in a white finish and is built for daily use.
Which motors does it work with?
It is a wired control for Somfy and Simu wired motor installations that call for restricted access. It does not use radio, so it connects by cable to the motor or its control circuit. Confirm the wiring for your motor with a Somfy professional before ordering.
Who should install it, and what warranty applies?
Somfy supplies this part through professionals, and a qualified installer should wire it into the motor circuit. Somfy backs the Universal Key Switch with a 5-year warranty. Ask your installer to confirm the wiring plan for your shutter before mounting.
