Common questions
What does the DecoFlex WireFree RTS 4 Channel kit control?
It controls up to four Somfy RTS motors, or four groups of motors, from one wall switch. Somfy lists it for awnings, exterior solar screens, pergolas, rolling shutters, and interior blinds, draperies and shades.
Does it need wiring or an electrician?
No. The switch runs on a battery, and the battery comes in the kit. You mount it on the wall with the included bracket, so the install takes no wiring and no electrician.
What comes in the kit, and which wall plates fit?
Part 1811074 ships with a wall mounting bracket, button labels and a battery. It fits standard decorator-style wall plates, both screwed and screwless, so it can sit in a gang beside your rocker light switches.
What frequency and range does it use?
It transmits on 433.420 MHz, the Somfy RTS frequency, with a range of up to 65 ft. Walls and other obstacles between the switch and the motor can shorten that distance indoors.
Can it share a shade with my remote or hub?
Yes. A Somfy RTS motor stores up to 12 transmitters, so this switch can run the same shade as a Situo 1 Channel RTS remote (1870571) or a TaHoma Switch hub (1871037). Each device keeps working on its own.
Which other DecoFlex sizes are there?
DecoFlex WireFree RTS also comes in 1 channel (1810897), 2 channel (1811068) and 5 channel (1810813) versions in white. For an outdoor wall, the DecoFlex Surface 5 Channel (1871025) carries an IP 54 rating.
