What does the URTSI II do?
Part 1810872 lets third-party automation systems control Somfy RTS motors. It converts RS232, RS485 and IR commands into RTS radio signals, so a Control4, Crestron, Savant or similar system can run your shades, blinds, draperies and awnings.
How many channels does it provide?
Each unit gives 16 channels of RTS control. You can link up to 16 URTSI II units for 256 channels in total, which covers large homes and commercial projects with many shade groups.
Which Somfy motors does it work with?
Somfy states it works with all RTS motors and receivers. That covers RTS awnings, exterior solar screens, interior blinds, draperies, shades, pergolas and rolling shutters, including motors such as the Sonesse 506S2 RTS 120V (1001809).
Which control protocols does it accept?
It accepts RS232 and RS485 serial commands as well as IR signals. Your automation system sends commands over one of these links, and the URTSI II transmits them as RTS radio commands on 433.420 MHz.
Who should install it?
Somfy recommends professional installation, since the URTSI II ties into a home or building automation system and each channel needs pairing with its motors. The unit carries Somfy's 5-year warranty.
Do I need a TaHoma hub as well?
A TaHoma hub is optional when an automation system drives the URTSI II. For app and voice control in a home without a third-party system, the Somfy TaHoma Switch (1871037) controls RTS motors by itself.
