Short answer: The Somfy 24V power supply for a single shade is the 24V DC 1.67 A Wall Mount Power Supply (1822209). It plugs into a standard 120V outlet and runs one Somfy 24V DC motor: the Sonesse 30 RTS, DCT, RS485 or Zigbee 24V DC, or the Sonesse ULTRA 504A8 DC RTS. Somfy backs it with a 5 year warranty.
A wired 24V DC shade motor ships with no power source of its own. Somfy's Sonesse 30 line runs on 24V DC and fits tubes from a 1.13 in inside diameter, so the power decision moves to the nearest outlet. For one window, Somfy's answer is a plug-in brick. The Somfy 24V DC 1.67 A Wall Mount Power Supply (1822209) is that brick. This guide covers the motors it runs, the wiring Somfy draws for each control type, and the point where a larger supply takes over.
Somfy motors the 1822209 powers
Somfy lists the 1822209 for its wired 24V DC Sonesse 30 family and for the Sonesse ULTRA 504A8 DC RTS. The current motors Somfy names as compatible:
- The Somfy Sonesse 30 RTS 24V DC (1241142), the radio version for Situo remotes and DecoFlex switches.
- The Somfy Sonesse 30 DCT 24V DC (1241146) for dry contact switches.
- The Somfy Sonesse 30 Zigbee 24V DC (1241970), built for TaHoma and other Zigbee 3.0 hubs.
- The Sonesse 30 RS485 24V DC (1241144) on a Somfy Digital Network.
- The Somfy Sonesse ULTRA 504A8 DC RTS (1134023), the low-voltage member of Somfy's Sonesse ULTRA 50 line.
Somfy's consumer store also names R28 motors for this supply. Battery motors sit outside the list. A Sonesse 30 WireFree or Roll Up WireFree carries a 12V Li-ion pack and recharges through the charger Somfy names for that motor. A 120V AC motor such as an LT50 takes line voltage through SJTW cable and needs no transformer.
Somfy 24V power supply specs
Somfy publishes a short spec set for this part. The figures below come from the somfypro.com product page, Somfy's consumer store and the Somfy Low Voltage Databook (2026 edition).
| Somfy name | 24V DC 1.67A Wall Mount Power Supply |
| Somfy reference | 1822209 |
| Output | 24V DC, 1.67 A |
| Input | Standard 120V, 60Hz outlet |
| Motors per supply | 1 |
| Low-voltage lead | 20 AWG, 2 conductor, 5 ft maximum |
| Body size | 3.5 x 2.3 x 1.3 in |
| Mounting | Plug-in, wall mount |
| Warranty | 5 years |
The 1.67 A output sits well above a Sonesse 30 in normal running. Somfy's 2026 databook gives the Sonesse 30 RTS and Zigbee 24V DC a rated current of 0.625 A, the DCT 0.700 A and the RS485 0.725 A, each with a supply tolerance of 21.6 to 26.4V DC. Standby draw on each is 0.2 W. Somfy still rates the plug-in for one motor. Plan one per shade.
Wiring the plug-in to a Sonesse 30
Somfy's databook draws the plug-in the same way for each control type. A standard 120V/60Hz outlet, provided by others, feeds the transformer. A 20 gauge, two-conductor lead of 5 ft maximum carries 24V DC to the motor. Put the brick on the outlet closest to the shade head and the rest follows from the motor's control type.
RTS and Zigbee. The transformer feeds the motor alone. On the Sonesse 30 RTS, Somfy uses a 2 pin JST connector at 2 mm pitch, with the striped conductor positive and the white conductor negative. The Zigbee 24V DC carries a 7.5 in two-wire Weidmüller pigtail. Radio pairing comes after power.
DCT. Somfy's dry contact diagram wires the 1822209 and the Sonesse 30 DCT Wall Switch in parallel. The Somfy Dry Contact Open, Close, Stop Wall Switch (1800219) can sit up to 23 ft from the motor. Setting limits on the DCT motor takes the Somfy Sonesse 30 ST30 Limit Setting Tool (9014599), sold separately.
RS485. The SDN motor uses a 9.8 in five-position Weidmüller pigtail for data and power. Somfy's RS485 diagram shows the 1822209 beside the Bus Power Supply (1822440).
One motor per transformer, and when to step up
Two shades need two transformers and two outlets. On a small job the numbers stay friendly. At $52.87 each, two shades come to about $106 in power and three to about $159. A retrofit with outlets already at the window heads suits this route, and so does a single bedroom blackout or a test motor on the bench.
Five shades on plug-ins run about $264, and five bricks on five outlets get untidy fast. The Somfy 24V Power Distribution Enclosure, 5 Motors (1870196) takes one 120V input and feeds a fused 24V DC output to each motor from one closet location. It costs more up front and buys a single service point. Our guide to choosing a Somfy power supply for 24V motors lays the plug-in beside the 5, 10, 15 and 20 motor enclosures, port by port.
Setup notes installers ask about
- Read the motor label first. Somfy prints the supply voltage there, and a 24V supply belongs on a 24V DC motor only.
- Mark the outlet before the shade goes up. The 5 ft lead maximum sets how close that outlet has to be.
- The 1822209 supplies power and carries no control signal. RTS pairing follows the steps in our guide to pairing a Somfy RTS remote, and the Zigbee version joins a TaHoma hub.
- Tube, crown and bracket fit for the motor itself sit in our Sonesse 30 RTS 24V DC fitment guide.
Somfy states that its own power supplies keep the UL listing and the motor performance intact. Motor-specific wiring sheets and the full databook sit in the Somfy spec library.
Ordering the 1822209 with your motor
Order one Somfy 24V DC 1.67 A Wall Mount Power Supply (1822209) per wired Sonesse 30 or ULTRA 504A8 DC motor, then add the control part the motor's protocol calls for: a remote for RTS, a wall switch for DCT, a hub for Zigbee. The full range of transformers, enclosures, chargers and cables sits in our Somfy power supplies and chargers collection.
FAQ
Can one Somfy 24V plug-in power supply run two motors?
Somfy rates the 24V DC 1.67 A Wall Mount Power Supply (1822209) for one motor. Two shades take two transformers on two outlets. For five or more shades on one project, a Somfy Power Distribution Enclosure feeds each motor from its own fused 24V DC output, with the whole bank served from one closet location.
Does the 1822209 charge a Somfy WireFree battery motor?
No. The 1822209 serves wired 24V DC motors such as the Sonesse 30 RTS, DCT, RS485 and Zigbee 24V DC. WireFree motors carry a 12V Li-ion pack and recharge through the charger Somfy names for that motor, such as the Sonesse ULTRA 30 WireFree Plug-in Charger (9025166). Read the motor label before ordering power.
How far can the transformer sit from the motor?
Somfy's databook wiring diagrams show a 20 gauge, two-conductor lead of 5 ft maximum between the 1822209 and the motor. Plan an outlet inside that distance of the shade head. Longer runs belong on a Power Distribution Enclosure, where Somfy allows 100 ft on 18 AWG, 150 ft on 16 AWG and 240 ft on 14 AWG.
Can I use a generic 24V adapter in place of the 1822209?
Somfy names the Sonesse 30 24V DC motors as compatible products on its 1822209 page and states that its own power supplies keep the UL listing and the motor performance intact. The Somfy part also carries a 5 year warranty. For a 24V Somfy motor, order the Somfy supply and keep the system on one manufacturer's approvals.
