Common questions
What is the Simu 2005415 universal joint?
It is a connector that joins two 7mm hex shafts at an angle. Somfy lists part 2005415 as the Connector universal joint 7mm hex to 7mm hex, with the factory designation HEX7/HEX7 universal joint. Somfy covers it with a 5-year warranty.
When would I need a universal joint?
Use the 2005415 when a 7mm hex crank or override shaft cannot run in a straight line to its gear or motor. The joint carries rotation through the angle so the crank still turns the shutter.
Does it work with 7mm hex extension shafts?
Both ends of the 2005415 take a 7mm hex. That matches the Simu Extension Shaft 7mm Hex 9420659 sold by ShadeMotorsDirect, so you can build a longer crank line with the two parts. Somfy catalogs it as the HEX7/HEX7 joint.
What warranty does Somfy offer?
Somfy covers the 2005415 universal joint with a 5-year warranty. Somfy also notes longer lead times may apply, so plan the order ahead of your install date. ShadeMotorsDirect sells it as a genuine Somfy group part with 7mm hex fittings on both ends.
