What does the RS485 Module for Irismo Motors do?
It receives Somfy Digital Network (SDN) commands over the bus and turns them into open, close and stop commands for a Somfy drapery motor. That lets an Irismo motor join a stand-alone SDN system, a Somfy Connect UAI Plus system or a PoE network.
Which drapery motors does it work with?
Somfy lists the Irismo 35 (Mini DC) DCT and Irismo 35 (Mini DC) RTS motors, including the Irismo 35 Mini DC RTS Drapery Motor (1003004) sold here, plus earlier Glydea DCT motors. For Glydea ULTRA motors, choose the SDN RS485 Module for Glydea ULTRA (1871412).
How is the module powered?
It draws its power from the SDN bus, so the module needs no supply of its own. Somfy rates it at 10mA, which counts as 1 power unit when you plan the bus. The Irismo motor runs on its own 24V DC power supply.
What connectors and cable does it use?
An RJ12 modular plug goes to the motor, and an RJ45 connector takes the SDN input. Somfy calls for CAT-5e or higher cable wired to the TIA-568B standard. The module measures 1.81 in L x 1.4 in W x 0.58 in D.
How is it addressed and programmed?
Use Somfy's motor configuration software. Each module holds up to 6 SDN group addresses, so one drapery can answer its own commands and also move with several room or zone groups.
What else does an SDN drapery setup need?
A powered SDN bus and a way to send commands. The Power Panel 24V for Somfy Digital Network (1871026) feeds the bus, and an SDN keypad such as 1871497 puts buttons on the wall. Somfy backs the module with a 5-year warranty.
