A Somfy CMO motor adds a compact manual override, so a crank still moves an awning or rolling shutter when the power is out. Learn what CMO means, the difference between the RTS and wired 550R2 CMO motors, how to size them and which brackets hold the head.

A crank for outage days
CMO stands for compact manual override. A crank turns the motor head by hand, so the awning or shutter still moves with the power off.
ExampleA storefront shutter that must close every night, power or not, is a CMO job.

Somfy describes the 550R2 RTS CMO (1051466) as an LT50 motor with RTS built in and a compact manual override.
On the jobAsk the owner how they will close the shutter in a power cut. A yes to "by hand" points to CMO.

The crank eye sits on the head
The override and its crank eye sit on the front of the motor head. That head shape decides the bracket.

Two 550R2 CMO motors
The 550R2 RTS CMO (1051466) has RTS built in and electronic limits. The 550R2 CMO (1051014) is a wired 4-wire motor with mechanical limits.
ExampleA storefront on a keyed wall switch gets the wired 1051014. A home awning on a remote gets the 1051466.

The wired CMO takes a wired switch
The 550R2 CMO (1051014) has no radio receiver. It runs from a wired switch or relay, and no remote can pair to it.
Watch forA customer expecting to pair a remote to 1051014 needs the RTS version instead.

The RTS CMO takes RTS controls
The 550R2 RTS CMO pairs with RTS remotes such as the Situo 1 RTS. Somfy lists 433.420 MHz and 656.2 ft open-field range.

Somfy lists 50 Nm at 14 rpm, a 1.85 in minimum tube inside diameter, a CMO head, and awning and rolling shutter as the applications.
ExampleA wide rolling shutter that sizes at 45 Nm fits inside this motor's 50 Nm.

This is an LT50 motor, so it needs at least 1.85 in inside the tube. Measure the inside, not the outside.

Somfy lists 5 minutes of thermal protection on the 550R2 RTS CMO. A long run on a hot day can pause it until it cools.

The Motor Bracket for Sunea CMO RTS US (9015802) holds a CMO head with the crank eye clear of the bracket face.
Watch forAn LT50 star bracket will not hold a CMO head. Leave it in the van.

The Sunea RTS CMO Universal Bracket, Metric (5061539) is the metric version of the CMO bracket.
ExampleMatch the bracket thread to the awning frame you are mounting to.

Crown and drive for the tube
The crown and drive still follow the tube. A 70mm octagonal tube takes the Octagonal LT50 70mm Crown and Drive Set (9012234).
On the jobOrder the crank rod and eye with the motor. Somfy lists a CMO Awning Override Kit (9012349) among its accessories.
